1) Should I take off my underwear before the Thai massage therapy session ?

Lots of people prefer to have their underpants on throughout an Asian massage therapy session , while some would rather be completely nude - the choice is completely yours. Should you choose to remove your under garments, your London Thai massage practitioners must make sure that you will always be correctly covered in a sheet or towel as just the area being rubbed during the Thai massage session is going to be uncovered.

In case any of your trouble spots are on your back, sides, bottom, or groin area, tight under garments can occasionally make problems when it comes to Asian massage work, but a thong for ladies or loose fitting shorts for males should have the desired effect.

2)  Do some people drool during their  massage - if so what do I do ?

Lots of people fall under a peaceful drifting sleep throughout the Asian massage session however when they awaken, they may see a pool of drool around the massage pillow or on the therapy table. Don't worry this can be a common occurrence. It frequently occurs when individuals are being massaged whilst having their face - laying face down on the massage table.

If this happens you shouldn't be afraid to request a Kleenex and don't worry we are here to help and assist you to make your Asian massage visit as comfortable and relaxing as possible !

3) Do I have to undress in front of the Thai massage therapist ?

Our massage therapists usually leave the massage area to ensure that you are able to remove your clothing in private and lie around the massage pad (usually with your face lower) underneath the top sheet at your own relaxed pace.

Please don't hurry or worry that our masseurs will walk in you whilst you are undressing - we will knock and ask if you're ready for your massage before entering the room.

4) Do you or I talk during the Thai massage therapy session ?

Although many people would rather talk through the  massage , don't think that it is necessary to chat with our massage therapists if you don't want to.  In the end, you are getting the massage cure from our masseurs, and we never forget this is a  massage therapy session - not a visit to the pub !

You can close your eyes, chill out and just relax yourself into your wonderful Asian massage session , and that is what many people do.

Traditional Asian massage does however requires some feedback from the person being massaged to be most effective. We as masseurs can frequently focus on much deeper muscle layers and you may wish to be sure that the pressure on your body doesn't feel uncomfortable or painful.

 Make sure to tell your masseur if ;

  •     you have any sort discomfort in your body or mind
  •     you've any queries at all associated with your Thai massage therapy session
  •     there's any sort of question about your Asian massage session that you didn't remember to  ask throughout the initial Thai massage consultation

5)  What do I do if I think the Thai massage therapist's pressure is not sufficient ?

Communicate openly with the Thai massage therapist whenever you feel it may be appropriate. Keep in mind however that it's a myth that Thai massage therapy has to hurt and be painful to be effective. Some of the most effective types of Thai massage are gentle in nature and do not involve deep pressure or any sort of pain. In fact, too much pressure can cause muscles to seize up and could cause damage to the muscles and tissues being massaged.

Here is a good rule of thumb to determine what sort of pressure is being applied during a Thai massage and the sort of pressure you should expect. On a scale of one to 10 where one is no pain and 10 is extremely painful, the massage pressure should always be less than seven.

6) This question is for the men - what happens if I get an erection during the Thai massage therapy session ?

Some males choose not to have Thai therapeutic massage simply because they worry that they may have an erection during the massage session. Or when they begin to be massaged, they are not able to unwind and chill out throughout the massage session due to this understandable anxiety. But it really is pointless to become embarrassed as it is perfectly normal for males to have an erection sometimes during a non-sexual, Asian massage therapy session.

Gentle touch by the masseurs fingers given to many parts of the body can activate the parasympathetic central nervous system and so result in a partial or full erection. This subject is discussed  during Wat Po Thai massage therapy training and so we fully  appreciate the concern and can easily ignore this without any embarrassment.  If this is still something which causes anxiety for you and means that you experience difficulty in fully relaxing into your Asian massage then we would suggest you put on a men's swimsuit to wear for the duration of your Thai massage therapy session ,which supplies more support than just loose fitting men's boxers shorts.

7) Is London Thai Massage a legitimate Thai  massage clinic ?

Although you may think that Asian massage establishments that provide sensual or erotic massage may look clearly seedy, it may be hard to tell. So if you are trying a brand new massage clinic or health spa, it's wise to telephone initially and request these simple questions:

  • Are you offering Thai massage therapy? We at London Thai Massage actually do offer high class , experienced Thai massage therapy.
  • Is the Thai masseur licensed by Westminster council? Yes - all the Thai massage therapists at London Thai Massage are all trained at Wat Po , Bangkok and are thus licensed by Westminster City Council to be responsible persons to undertake Thai massage therapy.
  •  We offer only Thai massage therapy. You are invited to check our qualifications if you have any concerns.
  • The Thai massage therapist will ask some simple questions regarding the condition of your overall health before your first Thai massage session. You also must state anything that you consider important regarding your health that you  think may be relevant for your Thai massage therapist to know so we can plan your massage session carefully and sensitively and allow you to benefit to the greatest extent possible.

8) I'm self-conscious about some parts of my body and don't wish that the Thai massage therapist should see these areas. What should I do ?

Some individuals are self-conscious and shy for a number of reasons. A few of the more prevalent reasons are:

  • I am overweight.
  • I'm hirsute in that I have hair on my body and I find it embarrassing  to be seen.
  • I have got acne on my  face , back or buttocks.
  • I think that my feet are ugly and unattractive.
  • I've got surgery scars.
  • I'm just a shy person generally.

Being self-conscious should not prevent you from seeking an Asian massage therapy session , be it going to your physician or visiting a massage counsellor. If you really are just too shy about exposing a particular part of your body, just let your masseur know and we will not massage that particular area.

Or, you can if you choose - select a type of Thai massage therapy that's only carried out through your clothing, for example Thai Traditional Massage, because no massage oils are used directly onto your skin ,so then you can remain fully dressed throughout the massage therapy session.

You may also bring your own personal comfortable clothes which you wish to wear during the Thai massage therapy session. Just be sure that you provide complete and accurate details about your current and previous well being history to the masseur during your initial consultation to ensure that we know of all associated concerns or problems that might be relevant to your massage o that we can ensure that we undertake your massage experience with the maximum appropriate safeguards and with the least discomfort and embarrassment to yourself.

 9) What aromatherapy essential oils do you use for an full body aromatherapy massage ?

London Thai Massage - Aromatherapy Oil Massage Techniques

At London Thai Massage we use only the highest quality aromatherapy essential oils during our aromatherapy full body massage therapy sessions . Your nostrils are joined by nasal channels and highly sensitive nerve receptors  to an element of the brain known as the limbic system. This system controls feelings and influences the central nervous system and production of some of the body's hormones.

Whenever you inhale any scent molecules, synaptic messages are sent towards the limbic system and these can affect your heartbeat, stress levels, bloodstream pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and also the functionality and the overall effectiveness of your immune defence mechanisms. Essential aromatic oils are absorbed through your skin as they are rubbed in by the aromatherapy massage therapist.

Each aromatherapy essential massage oil scent has different healing qualities. For instance, some help to becalm the body and mind while some do the opposite and energize. Here are a few broadly used essential aromatherapy massage oils that we use as well as their qualities:

  •      soothing - lavender essential oil , geranium essential oil
  •      decongesting - eucalyptus essential oils , pine essential oil , tea tree
  •      beneficial - ylang ylang, clary sage, rose, neroli
  •      energizing - rosemary oil
  •      cleansing - rosemary oil
